On March 7, 2026, the 2026 Intercultural Day, themed "Embracing Outdoors and Nature", was held at the Canton Palace in Liede International Neighborhood.

The event showcased the district's diversified cultural ecosystem through cultural displays and interactive experiences in open public spaces. Representatives from multiple consulates in Guangzhou, teachers and students from international schools, members of foreign chambers of commerce, as well as local and international residents and tourists, gathered in the heart of Liede — Guangzhou's "urban living room" — to experience a vibrant journey of cultural fusion.

Shared Stage for Celebration: Curating an International Cultural Feast
The event unfolded with dynamic lion and dragon dances, injecting authentic Lingnan folk charm into international exchange. Performances by artistic troupes from around the world followed, offering a full-day cultural feast. Artistic troupes from around the world then presented a full-day cultural feast.
Capoeira Brasil GZ from Brazil thrilled the audience with its unique blend of martial arts and dance; a Ugandan dance troupe and West African drumming ensemble delivered authentic African rhythms; an American country band created a relaxed, lively atmosphere; innovative ensembles and the Guangzhou Soul Project showcased diverse musical styles; a Russian acrobatics troupe displayed the perfect balance of strength and grace; The BreakSwing jazz swing dance troupe brought the performances to a thrilling climax. Youth choirs from multiple international schools, together with the International Choir of Guangzhou, wove city harmonies through song and melody.

Cultural Market: A One-Stop Global Experience

Beyond the stage, over 80 cultural market stalls brought in global cuisine, intangible cultural heritage crafts, interactive arts, and international education exchanges, transforming the space into a tangible, immersive "world market".

Attendees embarked on a sensory journey, savoring global flavors and the heady aromas of exotic spices while engaging in hands-on activities alongside a diverse international community. Multiple international schools and youth organizations participated, extending cultural exchange from the stage into education and daily life, allowing children and families to engage with the international Neighborhood.
The presence of several foreign consulates from Guangzhou and their consulate booths added a layer of diplomatic prestige, offering visitors a rare opportunity to engage with diverse national identities up close. Nestled within the open expanse of Canton Palace, attendees could embark on a "mini world tour," experiencing the rhythms and warmth of European, Asian, African, and American cultures — all without leaving the city.

The Intercultural Day has been successfully held for four consecutive years, with the 2025 and 2026 editions hosted in Liede International Neighborhood. By pooling diverse social resources, Liede will continue to cultivate platforms for meaningful cross-cultural dialogue, fostering a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere. Leveraging high-quality commercial assets and cultural-tourism resources, the Neighborhood will deepen the integration of culture, commerce, and tourism, enhance internationalization, and support Tianhe's high-quality development, contributing to Guangzhou's goal of becoming a global central city.
