To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Guangzhou and Los Angeles, a delegation of "Youth Envoys of Friendship" from Los Angeles—comprising 2 teachers and 14 college students—recently arrived in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for a 10-day visit. The tour aims to gain first-hand experience of the region's dynamism in technological innovation, its modern development achievements, and its rich historical heritage.

The delegation has visited the Guangzhou–Los Angeles Friendship Garden with Guangzhou youth, where they planted friendship trees and wrote messages envisioning future goodwill between the two cities. On the rest of their itinerary, they will also take an evening cruise along the Pearl River to enjoy Guangzhou's cityscape, stroll through Yongqing Fang to witness the renewed vitality of the old town, and watch dragon boat races on the Dragon Boat Festival, followed by a traditional "dragon boat meal" to experience the festive atmosphere.

Los Angeles is Guangzhou's second international sister city, with the relationship formalized in 1981. Since then, the two cities have maintained a solid and long-lasting friendship, engaging in diverse exchanges and cooperation in trade, port operations, sports, culture, education, youth interactions, and urban innovation. Last year, the Mayor of Los Angeles sent a letter to the Mayor of Guangzhou congratulating the opening of the 15th National Games. This year, to commemorate the 45th anniversary, Guangzhou presented Los Angeles with a gift set of lion dance costumes and props, while Los Angeles held a celebration and gift-receiving ceremony for the anniversary.

This activity is part of the Global Youth Explore Guangzhou and is a vivid example of Guangzhou's efforts to implement the initiative of "inviting 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and learning over the next five years." It aims to build new bridges for China-U.S. people-to-people exchanges and inject youthful energy.
