On August 31, European participants of the 2026 China-Europe Youth Workshop visited Guangzhou University's gymnasium for a lively session of pickleball and dragon-lion dance.
Students from Spain's Polytechnic University of Valencia, Italy's University of Padua, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and the University of Verona joined their peers from Guangzhou University, experiencing the energy of people-to-people exchange through a vibrant mix of tradition and modern sport.
Sergio Chumillas Garcia from Spain said: "We are really impressed and amazed by the difference in culture and I find this country a dream to work as someone who studies a technological degree."
European students filmed the dragon‑and‑lion dance experience. Spanish student Irene tried the dragon tail and found it far trickier than expected. Young people from home and abroad practised together, learning the skills with guidance amid lively drumbeats.
This exchange is one of the activities of "Global Youth Explore Guangzhou" and Guangzhou University’s 2026 China‑EU Youth Science, Technology and Culture Camp. The activity helps European youths gain a fuller picture of Guangzhou and China, building a cultural bridge for friendship and cooperation between Chinese and European young people
