Reception to celebrate Poland's National Day in Guangzhou, May 7.
On May 7, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Guangzhou hosted a reception to celebrate Poland's May 3 Constitution National Day.
Poland's National Day commemorates the first written constitution in the history of Europe.
Zhang Shuofu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, attended the reception and extended his congratulations to the Polish people.

"China and Poland enjoy a time-honored friendship," said Zhang. "In recent years, the China-Poland Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has steadily matured, demonstrating resilience and vitality."
Poland remains China's sixth-largest trading partner in the EU and the largest in Central and Eastern Europe, while China is Poland's second-largest trading partner and import source.
As China's economic powerhouse, Guangdong has long fostered strong economic ties with Poland. In 2024, two-way trade surpassed 10 billion USD, accounting for 20% of China-Poland bilateral trade.
"Under the Belt and Road Initiative, our collaboration has vigorously propelled partnerships in trade, infrastructure, and connectivity," Zhang added.
The two countries have strengthened ties not only in economic cooperation but also in cultural exchanges. Fifty-six sister cities have been established, and universities in both countries offer language programs, greatly enhancing people-to-people links and mutual understanding.
For example, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) was the first institution in South China to launch a Polish Language Program in 2014, and the university was granted the "Polonicum Award" in 2022 for its commitment to promoting the Polish language and culture.
