Promotion program held in Guangzhou to strengthen Nepal-China tech ties

On April 8, the Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou successfully hosted a Tech-Investment Promotion Program titled "Fostering Innovation and Investment: Strengthening Nepal-China Tech Ties". The hybrid-format program brought together senior government officials, entrepreneurs, academics, and investors to promote collaboration in innovation, the digital economy, and foreign direct investment between Nepal and China.

In the keynote speech by Mr. Bharat Khanal, Consul General of Nepal in Guangzhou, he reaffirmed Nepal's commitment to fostering a dynamic and investment-ready tech ecosystem.

Key Chinese representatives, including Ms. Xu Liu, Executive Vice President of the Guangzhou Association of Science and Technology (GZAST), and Mr. Chen Junlong, Al policy leader and academician at South China University of Technology, emphasized China's growing interest in bilateral R&D partnerships and cross-border startup exchanges. A featured session titled “Nepal as an Emerging Tech Destination" was presented by Mr. Anjani Phuyal, CEO of Genese Solution and a prominent tech entrepreneur, who showcased Nepal's digital readiness, youthful tech talent, and policy shifts toward innovation-friendly growth.

Additional insights on Nepal's legal framework and investment outlook were shared by Ms Xiaoyi Li of Beijing Dacheng (Shenzhen) Law Office. Virtual contributions were made by Mr. Ajit Bikram Shah, CEO of Lotus Holdings and Chairman of the CNl IT Council, highlighting Nepal's tech sector priorities and private sector potential and Mr. Nischal Singh Bhandari, Member of the Startup and Innovation Committee, FNCCI, who stressed the importance of enabling frameworks for youth-led digital entrepreneurship.

Later, an interactive Q&A session was held to reinforce the strong momentum for tech diplomacy, public-private collaboration, and mutual growth between Nepal and China. The Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou made excellent use of the platform to showcase Nepal's tourism and culture by projecting images and playing videos of the country's top tourist spots, cultural diversity, and scenic natural areas throughout the program
