Fortune released its 2026 Fortune Global 500 ranking on July 28. A total of 122 Chinese companies made this year's list, eight fewer than those listed last year. Of these, 21 are based in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

China remained second only to the U.S. in the number of companies on the list. The U.S. had 141 companies in this year's ranking, up three from last year and maintaining its lead.
Shenzhen-based Ping An Insurance ranked 48th, remaining the highest-ranked GBA company.
By city, the GBA companies on the list remained concentrated in the region's three major business hubs. Shenzhen led with eight companies, followed by Guangzhou with six and Hong Kong with five. Foshan and Dongguan each had one company on the list: Midea Group and Luxshare Precision Industry, respectively.
By sector, the 21 GBA companies include three diversified financial services companies, three motor vehicle and parts manufacturers, three electronics and electrical equipment companies and two life and health insurers. The remaining firms operate in sectors such as network and telecommunications equipment, internet services, industrial machinery and pharmaceuticals.
