The "Southbound travel for Guangdong vehicles" policy, which allows vehicles from Guangdong province to head south into the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was officially announced on October 31.
The policy will be implemented in four cities: Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, and Zhongshan in the first phase, with plans for expansion to other cities across the province in six months.

The policy consists of two parts: one for parking at Hong Kong's port and another for Guangdong cars entering downtown Hong Kong.
At the same time, the official management documents governing Guangdong vehicles entering and exiting Hong Kong via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Zhuhai Port were also released.
Starting at 9 a.m. on November 1, 2025, the Hong Kong Airport Authority will begin accepting parking reservation applications from Guangdong private car owners. Beginning at midnight on November 15, approved car owners from Guangdong will be able to drive via the HZMB Zhuhai Port to the automated parking lots at the Hong Kong Port.

Between 9 a.m. on November 1 and midnight on November 20, private car owners who meet the requirements can register for the first batch of quotas for December. A total of 1,700 slots will be released. From December 23, approved Guangdong private car owners will be able to drive into downtown Hong Kong after making reservations.
Guangdong and Hong Kong have maintained close communication and cooperation in implementing cross-border travel policies. Following the successful launch of the "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles," the new policy marks another milestone in enhancing connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
