The 82nd Venice International Film Festival unveiled its In Competition lineup on July 22, with The Sun Rises On Us All, produced by Guangzhou-based Qianlu Pictures, securing a spot. It marks the first time a film from Guangdong has been selected for the festival's main competition.

Directed by Cai Shangjun, who won the Silver Lion for Best Director at Venice in 2011 for People Mountain People Sea, the film stars acclaimed actors Xin Zhilei and Zhang Songwen, the latter originally from Shaoguan, Guangdong.

The story follows two former lovers who reunite years after an accident tore them apart, only to confront long-buried secrets from their past.

The film was shot on location in various cities of Guangdong, including Guangzhou, Shaoguan, and Dongguan.

The 82nd Venice International Film Festival will take place from August 27 to September 6, 2025, on the Lido in Venice, Italy.
