On April 27, the Conghua Liuxi River Film & Culture Week kicked off in Guangzhou's Conghua District, bringing together nearly 200 industry leaders, scholars, and media professionals to explore new opportunities in regional film, education, and cultural tourism. This event marks a groundbreaking fusion of cinematic creativity, digital innovation, and collaborative growth in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The event showcased Conghua's unique blend of ecology and cinema, featuring an opening ceremony, film premieres, and industry blueprints. Looking ahead, Conghua aims to establish itself as a "Green + Cinema" hub to drive regional film and cultural development within the Greater Bay Area.
A highlight of the week was the debut of the short film "From the Heart, Dreams Develop into Frames," which showcased Conghua's landscapes and hot springs, along with clips from local productions such as "Dreaming Along Liuxi River" and "Taste of Old Canton," emphasizing the region's "eco-cinema" appeal.
Two local films particularly stood out: the documentary "Dreaming Along Liuxi River" (Episode 1), which explores ecological conservation and cultural heritage in Conghua, with chief producer Wei Tie underscoring the river's significance as a cultural symbol; and the culinary series "Taste of Old Canton: Conghua Flavors," which highlights local delicacies like lychee honey and Lutian braised pork.
The event also unveiled the "Great Bay Area International Digital-AV (Conghua) Development Plan," which sets ambitious goals for establishing a Digital-AV Industry Base focused on virtual production, AI filmmaking, and immersive cultural tourism.
