Local official delegation from Luxembourg first visited Guangzhou

On April 16, Mr. Emile Eicher, President of SYVICOL (Syndicat des Villes et Communes Luxembourgeoises), Member of the Council of State, and Deputy Mayor of Clervaux, Luxembourg, led a delegation from SYVICOL to Guangzhou for inspection and exchanges.

This marks the first visit by a local official delegation from Luxembourg to Guangzhou in recent years and signifies a new chapter in the exchanges between the two locations.

Among the 11 members of the delegation, there are 7 current mayors, 1 current deputy mayor, and 2 municipal councilors. The delegation focused on inspecting Guangzhou's innovative practices in fields such as intelligent technology, urban governance, and the protection and preservation of historical and cultural heritage. During this period, Yang Yong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipal and President of the Guangzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, engaged in discussions with the delegation.

In the morning, the delegation visited WeRide, where they observed driverless sanitation vehicles (Robosweeper), autonomous logistics vehicles (Robovan), and remote cockpits, and took a test ride in a driverless minibus (Robobus). This visit enhanced their understanding of Guangzhou's innovative achievements in cutting-edge fields such as autonomous driving technology and intelligent travel services.

Subsequently, the delegation went to the Guangzhou Smart City Operation Center to see firsthand how Guangzhou utilizes digital technology to achieve "unified management through one network across the whole city." They also watched a demonstration of the "Suizhiguan" (Guangzhou's Smart Management) urban operation management hub.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited XPENG. In the cultural exhibition hall, they learned about XPENG's industrial market layout and future development direction, and they personally experienced several models in the sales exhibition hall.

In the former Nanhai County Community of Liurong Subdistrict, Yuexiu District, the delegation learned about measures taken to build a Party organization within the community, address urgent and pressing problems faced by residents, and improve both environmental quality and the business environment.

Finally, the delegation visited Yong Qing Fang (永庆坊) and Shamian Island (沙面岛) to experience Guangzhou's historical and cultural heritage and the achievements of urban renewal.

Mr. Emile Eicher stated that this trip to Guangzhou has been very rewarding. Guangzhou's advanced experiences and innovative practices across multiple fields have provided valuable references for Luxembourg. The delegation looks forward to pursuing exchanges and cooperation with Guangzhou in more areas in the future to jointly promote the economic and social development of both locations.

Established in 1986, Syndicat des Villes et Communes Luxembourgeoises (SYVICOL) is the most important cooperation platform for local governments in the country, which has long been safeguarding the rights and interests of municipalities within the framework of the European Union.
