Guangzhou port enhances services for 137th Canton Fair global business travelers

GDToday | Updated:2025-04-15

As the 137th session of the Canton Fair coincides with the Labor Day holiday, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is set to handle over 300 flights, marking an 8% quarter-on-quarter increase. Daily inbound and outbound passenger trips are expected to reach 50,000, with peaks exceeding 55,000, representing a 15% quarter-on-quarter rise. The Guangzhou Port, along with immigration, customs, and airport authorities, has implemented measures to ensure a smooth travel experience for global business travelers.

Efficient immigration services

The aviation port authorities have established a graded early warning and linkage response mechanism to ensure smooth immigration services for Canton Fair guests. During peak periods, additional windows will be opened, and specialized personnel will be deployed for crowd guidance and order maintenance. Real-time monitoring of passenger flow will be implemented to facilitate dynamic evacuation.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has set up designated channels for the Canton Fair in the immigration hall, with specialized staff guiding travelers through pre-registration and entry card completion. A special window for temporary entry permits will provide expedited services for eligible travelers, reducing processing times.

Simultaneously, the port authority, in collaboration with cultural and tourism departments, will promote a new form of tourism—transit tourism—highlighting Guangzhou's attractions to attract international visitors to engage deeply with the cultural and tourism offerings of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Door to door luggage transportation and multilingual services

A dedicated check-in counter for the Canton Fair has been established at the Pazhou Complex, offering luggage pre-check-in services and information about airport shuttles. The door-to-door luggage services allow travelers to book with one click, enabling them to travel worry-free and enhancing the overall travel experience.

The airport, in collaboration with airlines, will prioritize luggage handling, especially during peak hours, to minimize delays and ensure efficient transport. During morning and evening peak hours, staff will assist with slot adjustments and enhance the handling of late-arriving luggage to further reduce delays and ensure smooth baggage transport.

During the fair, professional foreign language guidance services will also be available at the airport. Baiyun Airport, in partnership with local universities, has formed a multilingual service team offering consultations in English, Japanese, French, Russian, and other languages. A 24/7 multilingual policy consultation hotline will support on-site volunteer services.
