A topping-out ceremony for the teaching building of the Harrow International School for expatriates' children in Guangzhou, along with a signing event for international education exchange cooperation, was held in Huangpu District On April 8.
Currently, the project is making every effort to meet the completion target by the end of 2025 and plans to complete acceptance and handover work in early 2026.
Located in the New Generation Information Technology Innovation Park within the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, the project covers an area of over 40,000 square meters and encompasses a full K-12 curriculum from kindergarten to high school, with a total investment of approximately RMB 589 million.
According to the introduction, the school inherits the classic red-brick arch corridor architectural features of Harrow School in the UK while integrating Lingnan cultural elements, aiming to create a Chinese-Western integrated, smart, intelligent, and modern international school.
Advanced construction technologies such as Green Building 3-star standards, structural seismic performance analysis, and green construction intelligent monitoring systems were employed during the project's construction, enabling digital management and control of progress, quality, and safety.
Over the past decade, the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City has attracted four major Singaporean core enterprises, including CapitaLand, SP Group, DBS Bank, and NCS, as well as top-tier innovation resources such as the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research. It has also attracted over 300 foreign-funded enterprises to establish operations.
"Since Harrow Guangzhou settled in Huangpu, the progress of project construction and preparation has been exhilarating, thanks to the strong support from Huangpu District and our partners," said Dr. Rosanna Wong, Chairperson of Asian International School Ltd. "Our new school will integrate Harrow School's forward-thinking innovation in education with the vibrant scientific and technological innovation advantages of Huangpu. We eagerly anticipate the successful completion of the school, which will mark a new chapter in China-British educational exchange and cooperation."
At the event, Guangzhou Development Zone Caiyang Investment Co., Ltd. and Asian International School Ltd. signed a framework agreement on international education exchange cooperation. The agreement stipulates that both parties will extensively carry out exchange and learning activities in fields such as science, art, sports, winter camps, and summer camps, jointly building a platform for cultural exchange and mutual learning, and nurturing outstanding young people with leadership, creativity, and global competence.
