Autonomous shuttle lines

WeRide, a major player of autonomous driving in China, in collaboration with Guangzhou Bus Group, has deployed 50 Robobuses, rolling out 10 commercial autonomous shuttle lines, including Guangzhou International Bio Island Line 1 and Line 2, Knowledge City Yongjingwan Convenience Line, Canton Tower Line and Pazhou Loop.

WeRide also runs autonomous shuttle lines along a bus rapid transit (BRT) route in the Tianhe district of Guangzhou.

BRT Xiayuan (夏园) — BRT Wenyuan (文园) Loop line

Operating from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

BRT Tangxia (棠下) Village—BRT Wenyuan Loop Line

Operating from 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm

The lines offer a new, efficient and convenient option for nighttime commuters in Tianhe and Huangpu districts.

Robotaxis

Downtown Guangzhou

Pony.ai, an autonomous driving technology developer in China, launched a demonstration operation line for autonomous driving on February 21st, allowing users to ride in autonomous vehicles to travel between designated locations in downtown Guangzhou, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and Guangzhou South Railway Station.

The autonomous driving demonstration operation line includes four routes covering five locations in Guangzhou, with operating hours from 10 am to 3 pm and 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm daily.  

Area:

Round trip between Guangzhou Garden Hotel (广州花园酒店) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (广州白云机场)

Round trip between Canton Tower (广州塔) and Guangzhou South Railway Station (广州南站)

Round trip between Zhujiang New Town (Xiancun (冼村) Metro Station) and Guangzhou South Railway Station

Round trip between Zhujiang New Town (Xiancun Metro Station) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

Operating hours: 10:00-15:00, 19:30-21:30

Users can access the latest version of the "小马智行"(Pony.ai) App, navigate to the "接送机"(Airport Transfer) or "火车站"(Train Station) sections on the homepage, check specific pickup and drop-off points, and book rides.

Huangpu District

WeRide and Apollo Go operates driverless taxis in designated zones in Huangpu District.

Operator 1: WeRide

Area: Designated zones in Huangpu District & Guangzhou Development Zone.

Operating hours: 9:00–18:00

Booking: "文远知行"(WeRide) App. Passengers get on and off at designated points.

Operator 2: Apollo Go (萝卜快跑)

Area: Guangzhou Science City

Operating hours: 11:00–20:00

Booking: 萝卜快跑(Apollo Go) App/WeChat Mini Program. Passengers get on and off at designated points.

Nansha District

For now, Pony.ai and Ruqi Mobility operate unmanned taxis in Nansha District.

Operator 1: Pony.ai

Area: Nansha District  

Operating hours: 7:30–22:30

Booking:"小马智行"(Pony.ai) App, Alipay/WeChat Mini Program, or 高德地图 (AMAP) → Select "自动驾驶"(Autonomous Driving) under "打车"(Taxi) service.

Operator 2: Ruqi Mobility

Area: Nansha District

Feature: China's first fully driverless (no safety officer) commercial Robotaxi service.

Operating hours: 8:00–22:30

Booking: "如祺出行" App/WeChat Mini Program → "自动驾驶"(Autonomous Driving) section.
