A sub-forum of this year's Global Mayors' Forum was held in Guangzhou on Dec 8. 

The sub-forum aims to explore new development models and innovative approaches in international AI and digital economy and provide opportunities for global cooperation and mutual benefit.

The forum invited experts to give keynote speeches and share their case studies, discussing the roles of AI and the digital economy in socioeconomic development.

Wang Guilin, vice chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Hamid Reza Gholamzadeh, secretary-general of the Asian Mayors Forum, delivered speeches at the event.

Officials from the Guangzhou municipal government introduced the city's innovative development of AI and its digital economy. The executive director of the GII4 Global Institute of Industry 4.0 GmbH talked about cooperation between China and Germany in AI. 

A professor from the Institute of the Urban Environment of Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared insights into a systemic approach to urban innovation. 

In addition, there were multiple case presentations, covering topics such as the digitization of the power system, smart neonatal health management systems, legal support, geospatial-based services for people with disabilities, and patent navigation.

The forum emphasized the importance of a people-centered approach, public participation, and innovative technologies in exploring new pathways for coordinated economic and environmental development.
