From Dec 7 to 9, during the 2023 Global Mayors' Forum, Dhana Raj Acharya, mayor of Pokhara, Nepal, praised Guangzhou, noting that after visiting over 100 cities around the globe, he was deeply impressed by the unique character of the Chinese city.

He described Guangzhou as not only a globally renowned commercial center but also an important port city, boasting a developed cultural industry and numerous well-known enterprises.

Acharya emphasized that, as international friendly cities, Pokhara and Guangzhou look forward to deeper cooperation in areas such as cultural tourism, sports, and advanced technology. He said that tourism is highly developed in Pokhara, while Guangzhou is also renowned for tourism and culture, offering strong prospects for cooperation in the tourism sector between the two cities.

In addition to tourism, the mayor pointed out that there is strong potential for cooperation between the two cities in sports culture and high-tech fields.
