Guangzhou Award session explores future urban innovations

As an integral part of the 2023 Global Mayors' Forum, the Guangzhou Award: Future Vision and Outlook Side Session was held on Dec 7 in Guangzhou.

The meeting focused on the achievements and future developments of the Guangzhou Award. Numerous urban managers and scholars from both China and abroad were invited to attend.

Key guests included Lei Weiju, deputy director of foreign affairs office of the people's government of Guangzhou municipality; Emilia Saiz, secretary-general of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG); and Jordi Vaquer, secretary-general of Metropolis. They acknowledged the role of the Guangzhou Award in the global urban innovation sector and discussed its contributions to the future development of cities.

The session discussed the social value and global significance of the award's cases, and explored the potential for innovation in new technology applications and community governance as they relate to city development. 

The Guangzhou Award, as a platform for promoting global urban innovation exchange and sustainable development, has demonstrated its positive impact on global urban governance.
