As of 24:00 May 18, 2022, there were a total of 5,770 positive cases of COVID-19, including 2,810 confirmed cases (1,861 imported cases and 949 local cases), and 2,960 asymptomatic cases (2,706 imported cases and 254 local cases).

Local Case Details

The patient is a 32-year-old Chinese man who returned from outside Guangdong on May 16. Upon his arrival in Guangzhou, he reported to his local community and had been quarantined at home in Yihe Shanzhuang, Yongping Subdistrict, Baiyun District. During his home quarantine, he tested positive for COVID-19. He was then immediately transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment. After further testing and expert consultation, he was diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID-19.
