Guangzhou, Tehran mayors talk about city exchanges, coopeartion

Guo Yonghang, mayor of Guangzhou, had a video call with Alireza Zakani, mayor of Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on March 17. They also signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two cities.

Guo said that Tehran has a long history, diversified industries, and rich resources as the political, economic, cultural, educational, and transportation center of Iran. Guangzhou and Tehran share many common interests in many fields, with great potential for the two cities to forge long-term cooperation.

He expressed hope that the two sides will deepen economic and trade exchanges, strengthen cooperation in city governance, expand culture exchanges, as well as make new contributions to improving public well-being in the two cities.

Zakani said that Tehran has close contact with Guangzhou and hope to enhance mutual understanding between the two cities, as well as carry out more exchanges and cooperation in different fields to deepen their relationship.

According to the memorandum, Guangzhou and Tehran municipality will strengthen cooperation in urban services, waste management, infrastructure, and other fields, as well as promote personnel exchanges in these fields.

Chen Jie, deputy mayor of Guangzhou, also attended the meeting.
