The 2020 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo (MSRE), which was held in Guangzhou from Sept 24 to 26, has attracted nearly 900 internationally famous brand companies from 51 countries to display a variety of products.

The International Culture and Tourism Show, which was set up in the expo for the first time, covered a total exhibition area of 10,000 square meters, gathering delegations from 51 countries and regions.

James Kimonyo, ambassador of Rwanda to China, came to the Rwanda exhibition area to promote high-quality local coffee products to visitors.

Kimonyo said that Rwanda and Guangdong have established close ties in trade and investment, noting that Rwanda was the first African country to join the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP), allowing Chinese customers to purchase high-quality Rwandan products through e-commerce platforms

"We feel excited about Guangdong's plan in pushing forward Sino-African e-commerce and cross-border commerce, and we hope that China and Rwanda can establish a mutually beneficial partnership," added Kimonyo.

A robot making Cantonese-style claypot rice by Qianxi Group was on display during the expo and the robot was used in Wuhan this February to provide claypot rice to medical workers during the city's fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Qiu Mi, assistant executive officer of Country Garden Group and general manager of Qianxi Group, a subsidiary of Country Garden that manages the restaurant, noted that the group has now opened nine robot restaurants in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and has put nearly 100 robots of different kinds in areas spanning hospitals, hotels, universities, and tourist attractions.

The latest technologies and products related to COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control were also showcased during the expo, such as smart facial recognition temperature measuring terminals and thermal insulation materials.
