Guangzhou University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have signed a cooperation agreement to establish a research seed fund online on April 8.

The agreement is expected to accelerate preparation for the construction of HKUST (Guangzhou), as well as boost the industry-university-research cooperation between the two universities in interdisciplinary research.

According to the agreement, the two universities will jointly invest in the fund to support their academies and scientific research institutes to carry out research, promoting academic communication and expanding cooperation areas.

Construction of HKUST (Guangzhou) started in September 2019 after being approved by the Ministry of Education. HKUST (Guangzhou) has been designed to be built into a world-class university and to nurture more talent for the sustainable economic growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
