A forum on the high quality development of the railway economy was held on Nov 27 at Guangzhou Baiyun Lake Park.

More than 30 companies with core competitiveness and comprehensive development capacity were invited to participate in the forum, as well as over 50 representatives from industry associations with great influence.

The Guangzhou China-Europe freight train, operating among Guangzhou's Dalang, Inner Mongolia's Manzhouli, and Moscow's Vorsino, started its trail run on Aug 28, 2016. By the end of September 2019, a total of 162 trains have been operated, sending off 12,391 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), with their total export value of goods declared reaching $945 million.

Guangzhou's Baiyun district, the starting point of the Guangzhou China-Europe freight train, has been sending off trains twice a week since June 2018. It is expected that the district will devote efforts to turning itself into a cluster area for cross-border commerce and e-commerce.

Both domestic and overseas cargo can be transferred at Nansha Bonded Port area to realize rail-sea intermodal transportation, saving transportation costs and time.
