The second East Tech West, an annual invite-only tech event, was held in Guangzhou's Nansha district from Nov 18 to 20, gathering representatives from global industry giants like Nasdaq, Huawei, Ant Financial, JD, and GAC.

The event was held by CNBC, a world's leading business and financial news network, and included over 35 fireside chats and panel discussions.

"The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is filled with opportunities, and I hope this event can share these opportunities with companies from all over the world," said KC Sullivan, president and managing director of CNBC International.

Sullivan added that this year's event has not only paid attention to hot issues spanning fintech, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, and smart cities like the previous one, but also explored the development of the Greater Bay Area.

"Nansha is a place with great potential and is of great importance in the development of the Greater Bay Area," said Max Raven, senior vice president of CNBC Catalyst.

Raven added that CNBC has set up a specialized office in Gaungzhou to report the latest economic news in Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area, letting global investors learn more about the development trends in the area.

Liang Hua, chairman of Huawei, said that Huawei is devoting efforts to redesigning its products as the new 5G technologies will set high demands on the market.

Liang added that 5G is a basis, which can support the development of AI and make full use of the digital economy.

Tang Hai, chief 5G scientist at Oppo, noted that the Greater Bay Area is an ideal place to settle down 5G technologies.
