New Nansha measures support HK-Macao youth entrepreneurship

Guangzhou's Nansha district launched a total of 30 measures to support the innovation and entrepreneurship of Hong Kong and Macao youths on Oct 26.

The measures cover various areas such as internships and employment, site subsidies, growth incentives, living security, innovation incentives, as well as base construction.

For those between 18 to 45 years old holding permanent resident status in Hong Kong or Macao, they will be able to receive a subsidy up to 30,000 yuan ($4,247.43) if they are pursuing further studies in Nansha. 

An additional subsidy of up to 33,000 yuan can be applied for at the same time for those that are seeking employment.

An allowance of 1,500 yuan for transportation and rent is available every month, and those purchasing basic medical insurance and commercial insurance can receive 5,000 yuan every year.

Supporting services in areas such as medicine, education, living, and the settlement of insurance claims will also be offered.

Financial preferential policies are also covered in the measures, including a subsidy of up to 200,000 yuan for settlement of companies registered in Nansha by Hong Kong and Macao youths, a venue rent subsidy of up to 200,000 yuan per year, as well as an exhibition subsidy of up to 100,000 yuan.

A batch of innovation and entrepreneurship bases for Hong Kong and Macao youths have been affirmed by the Nansha district government, which will give each base an annual subsidy of 1 million yuan. Demonstration bases will be selected among them, receiving an additional annual award of up to 1 million yuan.
