Guangzhou is expected to forge a high-level development pattern of two-way opening up and innovation, according to an announcement made during the Guangzhou science and technology innovation conference held on Sept 10.

By the end of 2021, Guangzhou will welcome over 25 cooperative partners of international high-level universities and research institutions, setting up more than 60 international science and technology cooperation bases, as well as over 10 collaborative innovation platforms with Hong Kong and Macao, according to the person in charge of the Guangzhou municipal science and technology bureau.

Various measures will be carried out to enhance communication and cooperation among Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Universities and research institutions from Hong Kong and Macao that meet certain standards will be able to participate in Guangzhou's science and technology projects.

Guangzhou will build collaborative innovation platforms with companies, universities, hospitals, and research institutions from Hong Kong and Macao to improve the industry-university-research cooperation mechanism.

In addition, a special area for technological cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will be set up in Guangzhou's Nansha district.
