Guangzhou seeks cooperation with New Zealand and Fiji

From May 19 to 26, Zhang Shuofu, Party chief of Guangzhou, led a delegation to New Zealand and Fiji to explore economic, cultural, and trade cooperation.

During his visit to New Zealand, the Party chief attended the Tripartite 2019 meeting among Auckland, Guangzhou and Los Angeles, as well as the special activity to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the sister cities bond between Guangzhou and Auckland.  

Zhang also joined in talks with Auckland Mayor Phil Goff and LA Deputy Mayor Jeff Gorell where they signed MOUs for business cooperation, as well as exchanged views on economic cooperation, scientific and technological innovation, people-to-people exchanges, and environment protection.

The delegation also paid visits to University of Auckland, University of Victoria, the five-time Academy Award-winning design studio and practical effects facility Weta Workshop, and the Shennong Caotang Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Communication Center set up jointly by Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings and the Confucius Institute of University of Auckland.

While visiting Fiji, Zhang met with Jioji Konousi Konrote, president of Fiji, and exchanged views on cooperation in the areas of trade, healthcare, education, traditional medicine, and infrastructure construction.
