The Guangzhou tax service of the State Taxation Administration introduced 12 new measures on March 13 to boost the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and better serve China's Belt and Road Initiative.

The 12 new measures serve three primary functions, including optimizing the taxation process, improving taxation services, and updating the taxation platform. They are expected to bring more convenience to Greater Bay Area taxpayers.

For companies, the new measures will further simplify the tax process. For example, Hong Kong- and Macao-based enterprises have been given a new way of paying non-resident corporate income tax, now only needing to provide the name of their company and the country or region where the company was registered, without having to fill out any forms.

The new measures are also aimed at optimizing relevant taxation systems for taxpayers from Hong Kong and Macao. For instance, the "Hong Kong and Macao Residents Tax Declaration Zero Distance" measure enables Hong Kong and Macao residents to pay personal income taxes online.

The Guangzhou tax service also provides full personalized counseling coverage for enterprises looking to expand globally, offers comprehensive disclosure of tax risks related to overseas investment, and helps companies resolve tax disputes.
