In early October, Guangzhou University and HKUST signed a letter of intent for the cooperative education project in Hong Kong.

According to insiders, the HKUST Guangzhou Campus will cover an area of 1.13 square kilometers, twice the size of its Hong Kong campus. The city of Guangzhou will assist in the construction and funding of the campus, in addition to other forms of support.

The area is one of seven major sections of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nansha Area of Guangzhou and is conveniently connected via local public transit and intercity high-speed rail. It takes just 35 minutes to get to West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong via the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.
