Guangzhou eyes cooperation with Kyoto University in pharmaceuticals

Wen Guohui, mayor of Guangzhou, met with Murota Koji, CEO of Kyoto University Innovation Capital, on Oct 25 at the company’s strategic agreement signing ceremony with a Guangzhou investment company. 

Wen extended his warm welcome to Murota and his delegation. He said that Guangzhou has been vigorously promoting emerging industries such as biomedicine and high-quality economic development. The bio-pharmaceutical industry in Guangzhou has a good foundation, rich resources, and broad prospects for industrial development. He expressed his hope that Kyoto University Innovation Capital will team up with the Guangzhou company to launch more projects and promote more medical research projects in the southern Chinese city. 

The mayor also vowed that the Guangzhou municipal government will continuously improve the city’s business environment and that it supports the exchange and cooperation between Guangzhou enterprises and foreign companies. 

According to Murota, Kyoto University Innovation Capital will put to good use Kyoto University's advantages in new drug research and development, deepen cooperation with Guangzhou enterprises, and promote further investment in Guangzhou by Japanese biomedical institutions and enterprises.
