The Canton Fair, China's largest trade fair, opened its 124th session on Oct 15 in Guangzhou, the capital of southern China's Guangdong province, with more than 25,000 exhibitors from across the world showing off their products and services.

The day it opened, Bronisław Komorowski, the former president of Poland, paid a visit to the fair. Praising the event, he said that the Canton Fair provides a good opportunity for foreign and Chinese companies to exchange and cooperate, mentioning that there are many industries in Poland worthy of attention from enterprises in China, especially in Guangdong.

"Our foods, especially the dairy and poultry products, are sold to various countries in Western Europe and are very popular. At the same time, Polish cosmetics are cheap, have a large market in Europe and are currently tapping into the Chinese market," he explained.

The former president joined a pavilion run by Welfull Group, a Sino-Polish company centering on lamp manufacturing and whose products received great acclaim at the 124th Canton Fair.

"Welfull Group provides an example of how to resolve trade imbalances between two countries. The cooperation between Chinese and Polish companies could give rise to more high-quality products and services, which can then be sold to Europe and America."

The visit marks Komorowski's first trip to Guangdong.
