To build itself as an innovative hub for the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, Guangdong province in South China announced the creation of a special AI industry alliance in Guangzhou on Jan 29.

The Guangdong Provincial Artificial Intelligence Alliance was jointly launched by the province's leading technological enterprises, such as Huawei and TCL, universities and research institutes. The alliance will be focusing on AI innovations and enhancing cooperation between the committed enterprises, universities and research institute to make breakthroughs.

Shen Zhixiong, deputy inspector of Economic and Information Commission of Guangdong province, wished that the members of the alliance will take the initiative in developing Guangdong's AI industry and make contributions to Guangdong's status as an AI hub, during a speech at the launch ceremony.
