eguangzhou.gov.cn | Updated:2018-01-18

Guangzhou Development District (GDD) will be the data-security highland in Guangzhou as it signed a cooperation agreement with Guangzhou University on Jan 16 to set up a data security institute and an incubator base for related technologies.

The institute, the first of its kind in Guangdong province, will target data security in areas of storage, encryption, management, as well as data-mining and the cloud industry. It will also promote development of emerging technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence and block chains.

The institute will focus on cultivating high-end talents and training industry personnel. Once underway it will foster 500 undergraduates in data-related majors and 180 postgraduate and doctoral students every year.

The two parties also intend to team up to build a data security laboratory and an exhibition center featuring relevant advanced technologies.
