E-commerce enterprises such as Jingdong, Vipshop, Tmall, Suning have settled in Nansha Free Trade Zone of Guangzhou, forming a cross-border e-commerce industry cluster.

Guangzhou has been working to build more bonded warehouses to speed up local cross-border trade, according to the local authority.

For example, the Nansha International Logistics Park No 4 warehouse was designed as a cross-border e-commerce bonded warehouse center. With a total construction area of around 77,000 square meters, the warehouse was completed in November, 2016. Even though it has not been put into use, there isn't a single room left unrented.

Besides, the new ground-breaking Nansha Logistics Park No 8 warehouse project, covering an area of about 79,000 square meters, with a total investment of about 350 million yuan ($52.74 million), is expected to be completed and put into use in the first half of 2019. It aims to provide public warehousing and other related supporting services for the cross-border e-commerce business in Nansha Bonded Logistics Park and attract more e-commerce giants to settle in the park.

The international logistics center serving cross-border e-commerce has been established in Nansha, with around 200,000 square meters of bonded warehouses. And it is expected to promote Guangzhou to become the center of the cross-border e-commerce in China.

The bonded stocks mechanism adopted by Guangzhou's cross-border e-commerce industry saves both time and costs comparing with the mode of receiving orders and directly mailing from abroad. In bonded stock the goods are shipped from abroad to the bonded areas in China in advance, and are delivered directly to the customer after the order is placed.

Nansha district plans to increase 500,000 square meters of storage facilities in 2017 to solve the problem of shortage of warehouses in the bonded area.

The local authority is also trying to improve the regulations on direct mail and bonded import and implement the bonded stock model. It will work on whole-process supervision of import and export commodities, and different kinds of supervision is carried out to improve the better serve the trade based on the enterprises' credit and products category.
