More than 1,000 residents from Guangzhou were treated to an audio-visual feast on Oct 28 as the 2017 Ersha Island Outdoor Music Season got underway with a grand concert performed by Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.

At the concert, a range of music was played for the audience including Ode to the Flag, folk songs from northern Shaanxi as well as music with distinctive Lingnan features.

Held by the Guangdong Province Department of Culture and Yuexiu district government, the outdoor music event is held on weekends from October to December at the lawn in front of building of the Guangdong Xinghai Performing Arts Group.

A number of great ensembles will perform during this event, including the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou's Youth Orchestra, the Guangdong Song and Dance Ensemble, and Meizhou's Mountain Song Troupe.

As usual, the 2017 Ersha Island Outdoor Music Season is open to the public for free. A total of 1,000 seats will be placed in the venue. The free tickets will be offered to visitors an hour before the concerts. Those who cannot make it to the concerts can watch live online at www.wycn.com.
