Whistles blows on 2017 Guangdong Sports Show

The 2017 Guangdong Sports Show, a professional event serving the manufacturing and service industries of the sports sector, opened in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Sept 23.

Wang Yuping, director of Guangdong Sports Bureau and Lin Ying, deputy director of Guangdong Sports Bureau, together with government officials from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Sports Bureau of Macao Special Administrative Region attended the opening ceremony.

Held at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center Expo, the three-day show covers an area of 20,000 square meters with more than 150 exhibitors showcasing over 350 brands.

The event centers on the construction and operation of sports facilities, ball manufacturing, workout equipment, outdoor sports equipment and smart sports products and derivatives, and functions as a great platform for exhibition, communication and trade for the sports industries. The first day of the event attracted more than 5,000 buyers from home and abroad.

After the opening ceremony, a range of activities including a basketball match, mixed martial arts performance, gymnastics show and freestyle football were showcased at the main venue.

More than 30 companies covering areas such as sports apps and smart kit, held roadshows on Sept 23 and a total of 12 quality projects were selected to participate in an entrepreneurship competition held on Sept 24.

Moreover, special forums on the upgrading and operation of Guangdong's sports venues were also held during the show.
