The 2017 International Airport Hub City (Guangzhou) Economic Development Forum was in Guangzhou on May 27.

Government officials, experts, scholars, and business representatives from home and abroad attended to discuss the economic development of Guangzhou international airport center and the construction of the economic demonstration area.

The guests included professor John Kasarda from the University of North Carolina in the United States, Christopher Joe, the vice president of the world's largest design company AECOM, and the mayor's appointed consultant of London infrastructure delivery committee, Guangzhou Airport Investment Co Ltd, and China Southern Airlines.

Guided by the Belt and Road Initiative, the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone is aimed at vigorously developing the economy by constructing world transportation hubs and accelerating industrial clusters in the national economy.

Airport economic development will help to improve the industrial structure of Guangzhou, as well as speeding up the industrial transformation and upgrading of the Pearl River Delta.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, a well-known business and trade center in South China, has a passenger throughput of 59.78 million in 2016, ranking third in China.
