Initiated last December, the idea of group traditional Chinese weddings received an overwhelming response from both Guangzhou locals and foreigners living in Guangzhou. Among applicants, there were young adults, middle-aged couples and even gray-haired lovers who found their perfect match after half of a century.
The grand event was performed in traditional Cantonese fashion, featuring traditional red gowns and dresses decorated with dragons and phoenixes and the performance of simple classic formalities, such as serving tea to parents and making vows before witnesses.

The air was filled with sweetness on the day. “I fell in love with my wife at first sight when I was a couch surfer at her house in 2011,” said Carl Martin, a handsome guy from Denmark unable to hide his love for You Xiaoyan. “She is the one tickling my heart.”

Deng Qirong and Tang Zhiru, one couple of the newlyweds, are also designers of the wedding dresses. They were deskmates in their childhood, competitors in business and have finally found true love united in marriage.
