Haixinsha is a small island in the Pearl River. Located in the Pearl River, south of Huacheng Square, Haixinsha Island boasts a total area of nearly 170,000 square meters.

As the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 16th Asian Games, Haixinsha’s construction began in March 2007. The splendid and glorious opening and closing ceremonies of the 16th Asian Games have made Haixinsha a well-known resort at home and abroad.

After the Asian Games, Haixinsha was been turned into the Guangzhou Asian Games Park. A portion of the facilities, such as the masts, the open-air water stage and the grandstand, have been preserved as legacies of the Guangzhou Asian Games.
