Guangzhou to hold HK, Macao, Taiwan entrepreneur competition

The Guangzhou municipal science and technology bureau will hold the 2022 Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

The competition is open to enterprises from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan that meet the following requirements:

Enterprises that are registered in the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan or Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-funded or shareholding companies registered in the Chinese mainland. Enterprises must have standardized operations, a good social reputation, no bad records, and be non-listed companies.

Enterprises must also have clear intellectual property rights, strong innovation ability, and high growth potential. They must be mainly engaged in the research and development, manufacturing, production, and service of high-tech products. They should also have no property rights disputes between related products, technologies, or patents with other units or individuals.

Participating industries will cover the internet and software information industry, the new generation of electronic information industry, high-end equipment manufacturing and artificial intelligence, advanced materials, biomedical health, the new energy, energy conservation, and environmental protection industries, cultural digital creative industries, as well as other technological innovation fields.

The competition will be divided into the registration, preliminary competition, semi-finals, as well as finals, and evaluation stages. The deadline for registration is 17:00 on June 15, with the finals scheduled to be held from July 21 to 22.

Enterprises that meet requirements should log on to the one-stop digital service platform for technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area before 17:00 on June 15, and fill in the relevant information as required.

This competition will feature one first prize, two-second prize, and 10 third prize awards, as well as up to 20 prizes for excellence.

Enterprises that win the first, second, and third prize awards will receive up to $74,377, $44,637, and $29,750 respectively. Those that win a prize for excellence will receive up to $14,876. The relevant awards and subsidies announced on the official website of the Guangzhou science and technology bureau shall prevail in the end.

The semi-finals will take place online, and the finals will include an eight-minute offline show, as well as a seven-minute question and answer period. The judges will show their scores on the spot.

This competition aims to innovate, as well as optimize the implementation of innovation and entrepreneurship subsidies for young people from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It also aims to attract young people from these areas to come to Guangzhou to pursue their innovation and entrepreneurship goals.
