Guangzhou's COVID-19 monitoring measures

GZFAO | Updated:2022-02-16

As part of Guangzhou's COVID-19 prevention and control measures, there are three forms of health monitoring. Here, we explain the differences between home quarantine, home health monitoring, and self-health monitoring?

What is home quarantine?

Home quarantine is the strictest of Guangzhou's COVID-19 monitoring measures. It consists of eight requirements:

People in home quarantine must stay in a single room with a private bathroom.

An electronic lock will be installed at the home's entrance.

People in quarantine are not allowed to leave their home and must report their health status, such as their body temperature, to the "three-person team of the community" twice a day. Those living with them must also stay home during the quarantine period.

Medical workers will perform COVID tests door-to-door.

The local community must provide necessary living support.

Those who have no qualified place for home quarantine will be subject to health management in a centralized quarantine site.

In instances where fever, dry cough or any other COVID-19 symptom occurs, reports must be made to the "three-person team of the community" and the patient will be transported to a designated hospital for screening and treatment.

In case of other acute diseases, the patient will be sent to a local designated hospital for treatment.

What is home health monitoring?

During the home health monitoring period, people must keep good track of their health, take their temperature every day, and get tested in their local community as required. They should avoid unnecessary travel and practice proper personal protection, such as wearing a mask when going out.

They must work from home (where applicable), refrain from visiting public venues, as well as avoid crowds and gatherings.

If they experience fever, cough, a reduced sense of smell or taste, or other abnormal symptoms, they must immediately go to a designated hospital for screening and treatment.

Inbound travelers who do not have a fixed residence in Guangdong may undergo health monitoring in a centralized quarantine site or a well-ventilated place where no central AC system is in use. In case of acute diseases, they must go to a designated hospital for treatment.

What is self-health monitoring?

People subject to self-health monitoring are free to go to work, school, hospital, exams, etc. with proper personal protection. If they experience fever, cough, a reduced sense of smell or taste, or other abnormal symptoms, they must immediately go to a designated hospital for screening and treatment.
