GRTRadio | Updated:2022-01-11

Guangzhou's first L4 driverless bus line is now operational and citizens can make appointments for free trial rides.

The unmanned bus line is called the Nansha No 23 and runs from Hengli Metro Station to Lingshan Island Ring Road from 7 am to 7 pm daily.

The self-driving buses are limited to six passengers at a time, and appointments are required to take rides. People who are aged 18 years or older can make reservations.

The Nansha No 23 bus line is fully automatic and is the first of its kind in Guangzhou and even South China.

A safety supervisor will be present on each bus equipped with a red emergency brake button, full-directional laser sensors, and 360-degree high-definition monitoring cameras.

USB outlets and a medical cabinet are also available on the vehicles.
