The first Shamian Public Art Season commenced on Aug 16 on Shamian island in Guangzhou's Liwan district, attracting large numbers of visitors and boosting the development of the cultural tourism industry in Shamian.

The event saw the visitor flow rate to Shamian increase to 43,800 on Aug 16, up from around 9,500 on Aug 14.

The host of the event has also organized a series of live-streaming sessions to allow viewers to see the various exhibits online, showcasing the charm of Shamian in new and different ways.

Two shuttle bus lines have also been opened during the event. Operating from 07:30 to 22:00, the two lines connect nearby tourist attractions.
