Guangzhou Metro Group Co Ltd signed a cooperation framework agreement with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on jointly cultivating postgraduates in smart transportation, Guangzhou Metro announced on July 23.
The two parties will focus on the cultivation of postgraduates in four areas, namely demand forecasting and planning of urban agglomeration transportation systems, artificial intelligence rail transit operation and management, traffic comprehensive information sharing and multi-mode coupling, as well as terahertz spectral analysis security technology.
Supervisors from both Guangzhou Metro and HKUST will participate in the cultivation of talents, spanning from enrollments to thesis defenses.
Postgraduates will also have the opportunity to earn internships from Guangzhou Metro and carry out project research in the national engineering laboratory regarding the safety and operation of urban rail traffic systems.
In recent years, Guangzhou Metro has launched close communications and cooperation with HKUST, leading to a number of research outcomes.
It is expected that the cooperation framework agreement will enhance the deep communication and cooperation between the two parties, explore new cultivation models for high-caliber talents, as well as make contributions to the development of rail transit technology in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
