GZFAO | Updated:2020-06-30

In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Civil Affairs on resuming burial and funeral services in an orderly manner while adhering to regular COVID-19 prevention and control measures and the works conducted by Guangzhou, we have decided to resume public burial and funeral services in an orderly manner from today. We hereby notify the following matters:

I. With the necessary prevention and control measures properly implemented, services including vigils beside the coffin, farewell ceremonies, memorial ceremonies, burial services, renewals of deposits of ashes, and outdoor on-site memorial ceremonies at all funeral parlors in Guangzhou will be resumed in an orderly manner. Transportation of bodies between Guangzhou and low-risk regions is allowed to be conducted.

II. On-site memorial ceremonies in confined spaces and indoor areas at all funeral parlors in Guangzhou shall continue to be suspended, and large-scale group services including scattering ashes at sea, non-profit burial ceremonies, and group memorial ceremonies shall not be held in principle. The resumption date of the aforementioned services shall be determined and announced by the local civil affairs authority based on the situation and in accordance with the orders of superior departments.

III. The funeral parlors shall deploy reservations and limiting measures to reduce group gatherings. Citizens shall make a reservation before conducting on-site services at funeral parlors.

We encourage you to grieve and memorize those you have lost through online services, at home, or by mail.

Let's make a slight adjustment to these traditions, while working together to contain the spread of COVID-19. You staying healthy is the best way to mourn your lost loved ones.

This notification will take effect on the date of issuance. The expiration date of this notification will be announced at a later stage. The No 5 Notice will be abolished upon the issuance of this notification.
