He Hongping, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry (GIG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has won the 2021 Marion L. and Chrystie M. Jackson Mid-Career Clay Scientist Award, the Clay Minerals Society (CMS) announced recently.

CMS is an international organization devoted to the study of clay and clay minerals. The reward, also known as the Jackson Awards, only selects one winner per year since 1992.

As the second Asian scientist ever to win this award, He was recognized by the CMS awards committee for his excellence in the contribution of research on the structure and characterization techniques of clay minerals.

Bruno Lanson, president of CMS, has sent a congratulatory letter to He. Lanson also invited He to attend the awarding ceremony and deliver a lecture during the 17th International Clay Conference, both of which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey in July 2021.
