The Portuguese Education Association of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was set up during an online signing ceremony held on June 8 among Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), and the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Hong Kong.
The establishment of the association was an implementation of part of the outline development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as an act to push forward cooperation and development in education in the area.
Three universities will carry out deeper cooperation in areas spanning teacher and student exchanges, joint academic discussions, academic competitions, as well as scientific research projects.
Im Sio Kei Marcus, president of MPI, said that the association is the first of its kind set up in the Greater Bay Area for Portuguese education and that he believed that the association will contribute to the cultivation of high-end Portuguese talents, as well as deeper cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and Portuguese speaking countries.
Shi Youqi, president of GDUFS, noted that the university will keep carry out more communication and cooperation with other universities in the Greater Bay Area, as well as in Portuguese speaking areas.
