An international online video conference among four friendly cities, namely Guangzhou, Frankfurt, Germany, Birmingham, the United Kingdom, and Lyon, France, was held on May 29, with participants sharing their experience in combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The meeting was held under the suggestion of Peter Feldmann, mayor of Frankfurt. Feldmann noted that the key to better fight against the pandemic is strengthening communication between friendly cities.

Li Ming, vice mayor of Guangzhou, participated in the meeting on behalf of the city. Li said that friendly cities have offered a variety of support to each other since the outbreak of the COVID-19.

Councillor Brigid Jones, deputy leader of the Birmingham City Council, expressed gratitude to Guangzhou for sending medical supplies to the city.

Jones added that the supplies Guangzhou sent to Birmingham for COVID-19 epidemic control and prevention have all been delivered to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in the UK.
