Guangzhou shares experience again in COVID-19 fight for C40 cities

An online seminar, hosted by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, was held on April 3 themed on sharing the Chinese experience in the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Three Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Guangzhou, and Nanjing, were invited to share their experiences in fighting COVID-19 in the seminar that drew about 150 representatives from 42 member cities of the C40 from 26 countries including Warsaw, Madrid, Los Angeles, New York, Milan, and Paris.

Tang Xiaoping, director of the Guangzhou municipal health commission, introduced Guangzhou's main measures and outcomes in fighting COVID-19, being the first city to share their experiences.

Tang stated that Guangzhou will keep enhancing its monitoring of COVID-19 and that it is willing to cooperate with cities around the world to face and overcome the challenge.

Mark Watts, executive director of the C40, highly praised the efforts and the phased outcomes that Chinese cities have made in the fight against COVID-19, including Guangzhou.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is an organization of city mayors collaborating to fight climate change, which was founded in 2005. Guangzhou joined the organization in 2015.

The seminar was the second of its kind held by the C40 that Guangzhou has participated in and the first was held on March 27.
