GZFAO | Updated:2020-04-02

Amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic, Guangzhou's sister schools have chosen to stand side by side, offering all the necessary assistance and moral support to each other.

The true friendship and mutual assistance among these sister schools have indeed lived up to the ideal of community with a shared future for humanity, as well as the international joint effort in combating the COVID-19 epidemic and safeguarding the common public welfare.

The city's sister schools have exchanged affectionate greetings during the COVID-19 outbreak. Balwyn High School from Australia sent an e-mail to Guangdong Guangya High School, bearing the message in Chinese, "Please remember us from the State of Victoria, our hearts are always with you."

The headmaster of Reigate Grammar School of the United Kingdom sent a video clip to students and teachers of Guangzhou Zhixin High School, encouraging them to stay calm and be positive in the face of adversity.

Zhixin High School has also received many consolation letters and phone calls from its sister schools in the UK, Germany, New Zealand, and Sweden. A group of students from Max Beckmann High School in Frankfurt, Germany originally planned to visit Guangzhou No 6 High School during this year's Spring Festival holiday but postponed the trip due to the epidemic. A total of 25 students from this school later sent a series of photos, expressing their best wishes to their peers in Guangzhou.

Timely assistance were also provided among sister schools during the hardship caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. Guangdong Guangya High School donated medical masks to its sister school College of Richard Collyer's, while Guangzhou No 6 High School also donated anti-epidemic medical supplies to Max Beckmann High School.

Guangzhou Zhixin High School has also shared China's best practices in epidemic control and prevention, as well as the school's online education curriculum design with its sister schools from different countries in the world.

"We are waves of the same sea, leaves of the same tree, and flowers of the same garden."

In the near future, Guangzhou's education sector will continue to make full use of its unique advantages to strengthen international communication and share practical knowledge with its international sister schools.

By doing so, Guangzhou can contribute to presenting the image of China as a responsible major power, facilitate closer international cooperation and communication, as well as create a joint force in winning this fight against this major infectious disease that is affecting the world.
