A warm-hearted donation by overseas Chinese in Panama with Guangzhou roots arrived at Xinzhuang village, Huadu district in Guangzhou to contribute to the efforts to prevent and combat novel coronavirus pneumonia.
Xinzhuang village is the hometown of more than 2,000 overseas Chinese in Panama. In response to the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia, these overseas Chinese have teamed up to offer support for their hometown.
Through their efforts, they were able to obtain 36,000 disposable surgical masks and four thermometers in one day. These supplies were then transported to Guangzhou from Panama via the Netherlands by air.
The second batch of supplies donated by overseas Chinese in Panama is expected to arrive in Guangzhou on Feb 13.
Qiu Xuewen, Party chief of Xinzhuang village, noted that the majority of the supplies will be donated to medical facilities, while the rest will be distributed to local villagers.
