Over 1,000 exhibitors from Taiwan gathered in Guangzhou to display their products and technologies at the 2019 Guangzhou Taiwan Commodities Fair, which got underway at China Import and Export Fair Complex on Aug 23.

The companies mainly come from Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Kinmen, with their exhibition area covering a whopping 20,000 square meters.

This year's expo featured an exhibition hall to highlight Taiwan youth's innovation and entrepreneurship, displaying projects that had won awards in entrepreneurship competitions, as well as excellent startups in the areas of genetic technology, smart catering, cultural creativity, education, and healthcare.

According to Guangzhou's Taiwan affairs office, the number of young people working and starting up a business in Guangzhou has continued to rise in recent years. Statistics show that in the past three years, nearly 120 new Taiwan youth entrepreneurship projects have been launched in Guangzhou, and an additional 2,000 young Taiwan residents have been attracted to work or intern in the city. More than 50 Taiwan talents were granted permanent residence cards from Guangzhou.
